When a small group of business leaders decided to launch a new bank in small-town Moultrie, Georgia, in 1971—with a modest $1 million in capital and a handful of employees—they could not possibly have foreseen where that venture would be fifty-five years later. Today, Ameris Bank is a $27 billion corporation based in Atlanta, with 2,700 team members in five Southeastern states and a diversified portfolio that extends its reach nationwide.
